Orianthi Panagaris

  • She's a girl
  • She's a frawesome guitar player
  • She played with Michael Jackson
  • Her solo's are sickkkk! (in a good way)
  • She's not an American
  • She jammed with Carlos Santana and Steve Vai (!)
  • I love her style
  • Anddd most of all, I WANNA BE LIKE HER!

Here's something about her that I found on her website :

At 24 years old, Orianthi has already experienced what most aspiring musicians only dream of. She's opened for her hero (Steve Vai), backed an Idol (Carrie Underwood), traded solos with a legend (Carlos Santana) and shared the stage with the King of Pop (Michael Jackson). What's left to conquer? The world stage, for one, and this guitar wunderkind has her sights clearly set on the road ahead.

After a performance with Carrie Underwood on stage at the 2009 Grammy Awards the blogosphere was buzzing with news of this little-known guitar prodigy. It prompted Michael Jackson to call with an offer for her to be his guitarist for his dates at the O2 Arena in London. When offered the gig in Michael Jackson’s live band, Orianthi joined a prestigious line of guitar players including Eddie Van Halen, Santana, Slash, Steve Stevens, Jennifer Batten and Larry Carlton. Sadly the tour was not to be and music lost an icon. “Working with Michael was a life-changing experience,” Orianthi reflects, “One I will never forget.”

Her story starts in Adelaide on the southern tip of Australia where, at the age of six, Orianthi began taking an interest in her dad's record collection. "Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Cream, Santana… he was into guitar players that are real songwriters," she boasts. Growing up in the 80s, a decade remembered for its many guitar greats, Orianthi also listened to a lot of Whitesnake, Van Halen and Def Leppard. Her father, who used to be a player in a Greek band, also kept plenty of instruments around the house, and it didn't take long before Orianthi strummed her first chord. Mastering the six-string came naturally.

"When I was 11, Carlos Santana came to play Adelaide and that show really affected me," she recounts. “I begged my dad to get me a second hand electric guitar so I could be like Carlos, and that was it, no more acoustic. After that, I would buy all of Carlos' videos — on VHS! — which I kept rewinding to try and learn his solos. I totally wore out the tapes."

Some seven years later when Carlos Santana passed through Adelaide again

Carlos' brother arranged a sound-check meeting between the guitar god and his young disciple after hearing some of her music. A sound check jam evolved into an invitation to join him on stage where Orianthi played for about 35 minutes and took a solo in front of a hometown crowd. Performances, tours and guest appearances with Steve Vai, ZZ Top and Prince have kept Orianthi busy up to this point.

But guitar is far from Orianthi’s only means of expression. Before she received the call from the King of Pop, Orianthi had already been hard at work on her upcoming album, Believe, on which she sings, writes and leads her own band. Working with Geffen Records Chairman and A&R veteran Ron Fair and producer Howard Benson (All American Rejects, Daughtry, My Chemical Romance, Three Days Grace) her fierceness of character has made its way to songs that will simply knock the socks off of any boy in the rock star schoolyard.

Orianthi packs modern girl-power punch into every turn of phrase, but it’s the shredding that takes her brand of rock to an entirely new level. Songs like “Suffocated” and “Think Like A Man” are anthemic rock tracks recalling at time Evanescence, Avril Lavigne, Paramore and even a less-music row more-sunset strip Taylor Swift. First single “According To You” is a catchy tale of an ungrateful boyfriend with a killer guitar solo. The result: a thunderous, hook and riff driven debut that sounds larger than life. If, for a moment, you’ve thought the music world could use another taste of The Runaways’ Joan Jett, let us introduce you to Orianthi.

Just look at this. Awwwh!

If A Song Could Get Me You

I love this video! The song is so cute kan. Marit Larsen is such a talented babe. She can write songs, play the piano, guitar, ukulele and she has a unique voice. But I just discovered her a few days ago, haha kesiannya.

A post with a thousand meanings (laugh at it, haha!)

FALSE HOPES. Arent you just sick of them? Boys might be cool with it since they can move on so easily. In fact, they're the ones who give out false hopes to poor innocent girls. Well, sometimes the girl might not be so innocent but boys will never understand a girl's heart. No matter how rough the girl could be, her heart is still very vulnerable. So boys, please stop giving out false hopes if you think that the girl you're trying is not the right one for you. If you're still unsure about your feelings towards the girl, just stop it will you? Because in the end you'll just leave the girl halfway, letting her to be heartbroken. Wait until you're pretty sure that she is the right one, and start it all over again. I think that's the very right thing to do. Because us girls has always been the victim for false hopes given by the boy they like.
(I'm not pointing or relating this to anyone, it's in general) ______________________________________________________________

Life is plain and normal. Nothing much happened recently. Not in school, not at home or anywhere else. So there's nothing to talk about actually. But I seriously need to study a lot of things man! It seems like I spend almost ALL of my time with my acoustic guitar, writing songs. Happy songs, break-up songs, emotional songs but most of them are love songs. Don't know why but I'm so in the mood of writing these kind of songs. It makes me feel good. (hahah!) Mr. Hezron wants me to compose something different, so I'm thinking of combining some jazz and country music and make it sound a bit pop. Jazzrypop? Haha I don't know la how weird it'll sound. And I always wonder, how can the lyrics be like? lol! However it is, I'll have so much time in kampung to spend for the song as I always have nothing to do when I'm in Maktok's house in Kedah. I'm going there this Sunday to celebrate the Eid with my mum's relatives there, and gonna stay there for a few days. So nothing to worry about. The only thing that is making me worried sick is the end of year exams! It's coming in like, err 3 weeks? But I haven't started any serious revision. Tonight I will, TONIGHT! (I'll try) :P

Anyway,
listen to this song -
Two Is Better Than One (Boys Like Girls ft. Taylor Swift)

I've never liked Boys Like Girls that much before, not as much as I love bands like Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, The Kooks etc. Because their music is just the typical American-rock-band music. Most of the new American bands sound like them, even the voice. Don't you think? (BLG fans, I'm sorrrry!) But once I listened to this song, I keep on repeating it on my iTunes. I think it's because of the lyrics, they're very simple yet meaningful. Which suits my mood for now. Ahhah! But I prefer the acoustic version, the one without Taylor Swift's voice. And I'm practising the song on the guitar now, thought of making an acoustic duet for it. Here are the lyrics :

I remember what you wore on the first day
You came into my life and I thought
"Hey, you know, this could be something"
'Cause everything you do and words you say
You know that it all takes my breath away
And now I'm left with nothing

So maybe it's true
That I can't live without you
And maybe two is better than one
There's so much time
To figure out the rest of my life
And you thought that it got me coming undone
And I'm thinking two is better than one

I remember every look upon your face
The way you roll your eyes
The way you taste
You make it hard for breathing
'Cause when I close my eyes and drift away
I think of you and everything's okay
I'm finally now believing

That maybe it's true
That I can't live without you
And maybe two is better than one
There's so much time
To figure out the rest of my life
And you thought that it got me coming undone
And I'm thinking two is better than one

I remember what you wore on the first day
You came into my life and I thought, "Hey,"

Maybe it's true
That I can't live without you
And maybe two is better than one
There's so much time
To figure out the rest of my life
And you thought that it got me coming undone
And I'm thinking
I can't live without you
'Cause, baby, two is better than one
There's so much time
To figure out the rest of my life
But I'll figure it out
When it's all said and done
Two is better than one
Two is better than one

Happy Birthday, little Michael!

Happy 51st Birthday, Michael Jackson!

Little Michael is turning 51 today! Okay, that's not little. Hahah! He might not be the little Michael anymore, but I just felt like putting the younger version of him. Maybe it's because of the fact that he never had a birthday party when he was a kid. Haha anyway, I hope he is
having a blast up there, enjoying his 51st birthday. I hate saying this, but do rest in peace, Michael :(

Here is a Birthday cake specially made for him ,
since he loves Peter Pan so much

(not really, it wasn't me who baked this :P)

Shut up and let me go, hey!

(don't ask me why, just felt like blogging about them)

I just realised that I actually love The Ting Tings a lottttt. Their music, their style, their......everything la, they just suit my taste. Listen to Great DJ / Shut Up and Let Me Go / We Walk / Be The One / Fruit Machine. If you like them, let's high five! Ohh and of course the song you're listening to now, (the one on my blog). Maybe you'll think that the music is kinda weird, but it's unique! I don't think there's any other duo band like this. AND, I love Katie White! Guys may think that she's not hot, but I think she's very cute. Her sense of style, I just love the way she dress up and the way she modify her clothes! Just look at these pictures :

Soooo, what do you think? She's the rock-chic-kind-of-girl I wish I could be, seriously. And her bandmate, who is the drummer of the band is quite hot too! His name is Jules something something. Quite a French-like name. Hehe. Ohh yea, this band had inspired Katy Perry too. So if you love Katy Perry, you should love them more! Okay I'm gonna stop typing now, or I'll crap more. lol. Toodles people! ;D

I'm sorry I met you darling

It's the Ramadhan now, and so far everything's going on well now, alhamdulillah. The first day of fasting was okay, didn't really feel like I was fasting because I went to KL for almost the whole day, to do some shopping with my family. The second one was normal, but the food were awesome. No one can ever beat Mummy's cooking, NO ONE. And today is the 3rd day already, 27 more days till Rayaaa. It's not even a week of Ramadhan yet, but I'm getting so excited for the Eid. Well, you know why la kan **keshingg keshingg** hehe :P
I don't really have the time to blog now, need to help Mummy in the kitchen with the preparations for buka puasa later. Anyway, here's something that I've been missing now, I really hope these boys will remain as a duo band, with more albums and deep songs. Toodles!
